Chris Pierson is a Canadian-born author and game designer who began aspiring to be a novelist at age twelve and completed his first novel at sixteen. He received his breakthrough opportunity when Margaret Weis issued an open call for submissions to an online anthology project, and TSR subsequently approached him at Gen Con in 1997 about writing for the Dragonlance line. Pierson went on to write the Kingpriest Trilogy, the Taladas Trilogy, and the Bridges of Time novels, including Spirit of the Wind and Dezra's Quest, becoming one of the more prolific contributors to Dragonlance fiction in the late 1990s and 2000s. His short fiction has appeared in anthologies including Time Twisters, Pandora's Closet, Fellowship Fantastic, The Dimension Next Door, and Terribly Twisted Tales. Beyond novel writing, Pierson built an extensive career in video game design, working at Turbine and its successor studio, Standing Stone Games, where he served as one of four systems designers on the early MMORPG Asheron's Call and spent more than twenty years on The Lord of the Rings Online as a writer and world designer, ultimately holding the title of Lead Worldbuilder and Loremaster. He lives in Boston, Massachusetts, with his wife, Rebekah, and their children, continuing to work across both tie-in fiction and interactive game design.
