Scott Warren Siegel is an American writer of mostly young-adult, shared-universe science fiction and fantasy, generally working in partnership with his wife, Barbara Siegel, throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Together the Siegels wrote across numerous licensed and original series for younger readers, including Tanis, the Shadow Years (1990) in the Dragonlance line, an entry in the Preludes era exploring the backstory of one of the saga's central heroes. Their broader bibliography spans the G.I. Joe: Find Your Fate series (three books, 1986–1987), the Fire Brats series (four books, 1987–1988), the Ghostworld series (six books, 1991–1993), the Wizards, Warriors and You gamebook series (three books, 1985–1986), and the Star Trek tie-in novel Phaser Fight (1986). As their careers evolved, Scott Siegel moved into entertainment writing and commentary, contributing works such as The Winona Ryder Scrapbook (1997) and The Encyclopedia of Hollywood (1990), reflecting a shift from genre tie-in fiction toward pop-culture nonfiction and criticism. The couple established the venture Siegel Presents to continue their work in theatre and entertainment-industry coverage. Scott Siegel's career thus spans two distinct phases: prolific shared-universe fiction for young readers in the 1980s, followed by a transition into Hollywood- and theatre-focused writing later in his career.
