Synopsis
In 1940, Britain's Royal Academy of Witches offers its help to the war effort. Lydia Polk, a young witch and apprentice there, is sent to find the Grimorium Bellum, the Book of War, an ancient volume of battle magic that Hitler also wants. When a Nazi witch strikes at the Academy and leaves its senior members in disarray, Lydia sets out for occupied France with little guidance. She is joined by Rebecca, a French Resistance fighter, and Henry, an American art historian who has some magic of his own. Together they race a coven of Nazi witches to the book, which seems to have its own plans, while Lydia also reconnects with her mother and learns that her mentors are not always honest with her.
