Synopsis

A Tapestry of Lions, the final volume of the Chronicles of the Cheysuli, follows Kellin, heir to the throne of Homana, who according to prophecy is destined to father a child with an Ihlini woman in order to restore the Cheysuli race to full strength. Embittered by personal tragedy, Kellin rejects both this prophecy and the lir-bonding heritage that defines his Cheysuli identity, turning away from the path laid out for him and becoming something of an outcast among his own people. Even as he refuses the role assigned to him, the Ihlini regard Kellin as a genuine and serious threat, setting up a conflict between his personal defiance and the weight of a destiny that others are determined to see fulfilled, whether he embraces it or not.

Notes

  • From the series record (Chronicles of the Cheysuli): One continuous eight-book saga, all Core Canon; publication order and internal chronology agree (each volume advances the same generational timeline in the order published).

Neighbouring works

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.

  • Reading order, within the series Chronicles of the Cheysuli: position 8 of 8: previous Flight of the Raven (1990)
