Synopsis

Alcatraz Versus the Shattered Lens takes Alcatraz Smedry and his companions to the Free Kingdom of Mokia, where the city of Tuki Tuki faces an escalating siege from the invading Librarians, whose robotic forces bombard the city with boulders as its leaders debate whether surrender is the only option left. Bastille, previously Alcatraz's steady companion and protector, becomes incapacitated in the course of events, while a newly introduced relative, Aydee Ecks, whose peculiar mathematical-disability Talent grants her a form of aerial transport, joins the group, alongside General Mallo, a military leader who turns out to be Mokia's king in disguise. When an accident unexpectedly places Alcatraz in command of the city's defense, he must decide whether to press on against overwhelming odds, forcing him to grapple directly with his growing powers and the weight of real responsibility for the first time.

Notes

  • From the series record (Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians): A middle-grade comic-fantasy series about a boy who can deliberately break things, opposing a secret cabal of librarians who suppress fantastical 'Silimatic' technology hidden across the real world. Books 1-5 solely authored by Brandon Sanderson (already known for the Cosmere and the Wheel of Time). No true connection to either of those universes -- a wholly separate, standalone continuity.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
