Synopsis
Among Ghosts is a 2025 fantasy novel by Rachel Hartman set in the same world as her Seraphina books, taking place roughly a century before those events. It follows a boy fleeing from a dragon who encounters a ghost while seeking refuge, and takes shelter in a remote, haunted abbey far from the dangers pursuing him. Inside the abbey he crosses paths with a menacing nun whose intentions toward him are unclear, and becomes entangled in the unresolved mystery of several girls murdered within the abbey's walls in years past. Isolated among strangers with secrets of their own, the boy must navigate both the abbey's living residents and its restless dead to understand what really happened there, and to stay safe himself.
