Synopsis

Wyl Thirsk, former general of the Morgravian army and bearer of the curse called Myrren's gift, is running out of time. The marriage between his beloved Queen Valentyna and his sworn enemy, the despotic King Celimus, is imminent; yet despite the impending nuptials war looms between Morgravia and Briavel, while the threat from the Mountain Kingdom in the north grows stronger. Every death Wyl suffers carries him into a new body and a new life that is not his, and to stop Celimus, save Valentyna and his sister, and bring peace to the three realms, he must finally find the way to master the Quickening, or be freed from it, before it consumes what is left of him. The conclusion of the trilogy, which reviewers called high fantasy at its best and a gleeful finale of adventure and megalomaniacal machinations.
