Synopsis
Leo Pellissier, the Master of the vampires of New Orleans, asks Jane Yellowrock to strengthen security for a coming visit from European vampires who want his territory. Jane, a skinwalker who hunts vampires for hire, agrees and sets a steep price, and Leo accepts it. While the city prepares for its guests, an unseen creature begins to stalk New Orleans and targets both Leo and Jane. She must find out what the creature is and who sent it before the visitors arrive. The preparations bring her into closer contact with the vampire politics she has tried to stay clear of.
