Synopsis

Seven corpses are discovered in the streets of a Dragon's fief, all identical, down to their clothing. Private Kaylin Neya of the Hawks, who fled the lawless fief of Nightshade as a child to become one of the city's protectors, is assigned to discover who the dead were, who killed them and why, and whether the evil lurking at the borders of Elantra is preparing to cross over. At least the investigation delays her dreaded meeting with the Dragon Emperor. As the shadows grow longer over the fiefs, Kaylin must use every skill she has ever learned, and the strange markings on her skin, to save the people she has sworn to protect. Sword in hand and Dragons in the sky, this time there is no retreat and no surrender. The seventh Chronicles of Elantra novel.
