Synopsis
Cold Days is the fourteenth novel, opening with Harry Dresden recovering in the Winter Court stronghold of Arctis Tor under the care of the fey woman Sarissa, having been remade as the new Winter Knight in service to Queen Mab. Introduced to Winter's court and given his first order from Mab -- to kill the fae noblewoman Maeve -- Dresden returns to Chicago to find he has also inherited responsibility for Demonreach, a hidden island prison built by Merlin to contain some of the world's most dangerous supernatural entities. When the island comes under a coordinated attack from beings known as Outsiders, Dresden must defend it while trying to understand why Maeve has changed and what larger force may be manipulating events, all while an approaching Halloween marks the only window in which an immortal being can be killed.

Notes
- From the series record (The Dresden Files): 18-novel main sequence (2000-2026, ongoing), narrated throughout by wizard-detective Harry Dresden. Publication order equals in-story chronological order for the entire main sequence. Peace Talks and Battle Ground (both 2020) were originally written as a single novel that grew too long and was split into two by the publisher, released 2.5 months apart, a genuine bibliographic quirk, not a numbering error. A 19th novel (Mirror Mirror) is announced for 2027 but unpublished and is not registered.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.
