Synopsis
Rachel Adams lives in Baalboden, a walled city-state where girls are expected to learn domestic skills and defer to male protectors. Rachel instead trains in tracking, hunting and combat. When her father, a courier, fails to return from a mission and is declared dead, she is assigned a new protector: Logan, her father's apprentice, to whom she once confessed her feelings and who turned her down. Rachel refuses to accept her father's death and sets out to find him. Her journey through the Wasteland brings her and Logan face to face with a monster that cannot be killed and with assassins, and she learns a secret that bears on a long-standing conflict.
