Synopsis
In eleventh-century China, the Song, Liao, Dali, Western Xia and Tibetan states share an uneasy map, with martial-arts clans active in all of them. Duan Yu, a prince of Dali, hates fighting and runs away from home, only to be drawn into the martial world and into tangled feelings for several young women. Qiao Feng, the respected leader of the Beggar Clan, is accused of killing his adoptive parents and fellow fighters to hide his Khitan ancestry. Cast out by his former allies while Song and Liao are at war, he sets out with a loyal companion to learn who is behind the killings. Xuzhu, a gentle Shaolin monk, stumbles by chance into a hidden inheritance of skills and leadership.
