Synopsis

The twenty-second book of The Legend of the Ice People, published in English as The Demon and the Virgin. At long last Heike Lind of the Ice People, one of the 'touched' descendants of Tengel the Evil, reaches Norway to take possession of his rightful inheritance, the family estate of Gråstensholm. But when he arrives he finds that all his relatives there have passed away and that unscrupulous bandits have seized the property. Heike does not know what to do, until he discovers a shy girl who roams the forest like a shadow, Vinga Tark, whose story becomes bound to his and continues in the next volume, Våroffer.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Legend of the Ice People): The original 47-volume saga (1982-1989) following the cursed Ice People clan across generations of Scandinavian history, marked by inherited supernatural gifts, a medallion-bound curse, and (in its later volumes) an underground kingdom where time itself runs differently. Two later continuations exist (a further ~35 volumes across two more parts, published years afterward) and are not yet catalogued here pending closer genre review.
