Synopsis
Danny North has done the one thing the Families of Westil feared and dreamed of for thirteen centuries: he has opened a Great Gate between Earth and Westil, and the mages who passed through it have come back with their ancient powers restored. What he did not know is that the Gate Thief had a very good reason for closing the gates all those centuries ago, and Danny has now fallen into the power of that enemy of both worlds, the being who rode the open gates between them. With Danny no longer master of himself, the Families on Earth jockey for the advantage the restored powers give them, Wad on Westil must decide where his loyalties lie, and the friends Danny gathered around him are left to find a way to free him before the two worlds pay the price of his gift.
