Synopsis
Kaile is a baker's daughter in Zombay, a river city where ancient magic meets new gearwork. She loves music, and a goblin gives her a bone flute. When she plays it, the flute seems to play a tune of its own, and her shadow is cut away from her body. Her family, believing she has died, holds a funeral and begins to behave as though she is no longer there. With her shadow beside her, Kaile sets out to learn where the flute came from and what it wants, while a flood threatens the city. Her music may turn out to matter to the survival of Zombay.
