Synopsis
Belinda has always been the family's black sheep, overshadowed by her accomplished older sister Signe. When Signe dies in childbirth, Belinda moves to the Elistrand estate to care for the infant, facing hostility from her brother-in-law and his suspicious mother. There she meets Viljar, a feared member of the Ice People, who along with his kin recognizes worth in Belinda that others overlook, drawing her back into the family's hidden valley and its ancient evil.

Two later continuations exist (a further ~35 volumes across two more parts, published years afterward) and are not yet catalogued here pending closer genre review.
