Synopsis
After his parents are killed by a rhinoceros, young James Henry Trotter is sent to live in a lonely house on a hill with his two cruel aunts, Sponge and Spiker, who treat him miserably and work him hard. One day a strange old man gives him a bag of small green magic crystals that he promises will make marvellous things happen, but James stumbles and spills them beside an old barren peach tree. Soon a single peach begins to swell until it is as big as a house, and the aunts charge crowds of sightseers to look at it. Sent out at night to clear up the rubbish, James finds a tunnel into the fruit and, inside its stone, a company of giant talking creatures, among them the Centipede, the Earthworm and Miss Spider.
