Synopsis
Westria is a coastal kingdom on the west coast of North America, set some six centuries after a great Cataclysm. Its young king needs a bride who can also be Mistress of the Jewels, keeper of the four Jewels of Power that command the elements. Faris, a shy and frail girl from a northern province, believes that the fire scars on her arm make her unworthy, and she suppresses the magical gifts she has. She never expects to be chosen. When the king and Faris are drawn to each other, she is accepted as queen and begins the demanding training needed to wield the Jewels, although some priests doubt her place.
