Synopsis
Last First Snow is set in Dresediel Lex roughly forty years after the God Wars, a night of devastating conflict between the old gods and the Craftsmen who overthrew them. The King in Red, a former revolutionary now ruling the city as a skeletal sorcerer-administrator, wants to demolish a historic neighborhood and strip away the last vestiges of divine law in the name of modernization. Temoc, once a warrior-priest of the old faith and now a quiet community organizer and father, is determined to protect his family and neighbors from being displaced. Craftswoman Elayne Kevarian, sent to help mediate the dispute, is more concerned with preventing the kind of unrest that could reignite the God Wars than with either side's grievances. As redevelopment plans move forward, the competing goals of these three figures collide, and the resulting standoff threatens to spiral beyond anyone's control.
