Synopsis
Ithaca lies under a curse. Each spring its people hang twelve young women as an offering to Poseidon, hoping to keep the sea from destroying the island. Leto, a seventeen-year-old orphan whose mother was an Oracle, is condemned to be one of them. Instead she wakes on the shore of Pandou, a forgotten island, where Melantho, a girl sacrificed in an earlier year, now controls the tides. Melantho tells her the curse can end only if Leto kills Mathias, the crown prince of Ithaca and a descendant of Odysseus. Leto agrees to try, but as she gets close to the prince, the plan becomes harder to carry out. The story alternates between Leto, Melantho and Mathias.
