Synopsis
Gravely wounded in battle, Isidro's survival depends on the one man he can never fully trust. Sierra struggles to reconnect with old friends as the bonds between them have changed, while Rasten wrestles with the violence of his own past. When enemies from Akhara pursue the group back into Ricalan seeking vengeance, Rasten's renounced combat skills may be the only thing that can save them.
Where it sits

- Series: Children of the Black Sun core; position 3 of 3 in the series' recorded order
- Author: Jo Spurrier
Notes
- ISBN recorded is the HarperVoyager Australia paperback, 978-0-7322-9257-7: the publisher listing that gives it also gives the series' first two books under the ISBNs already recorded for them (978-0-7322-9253-9, 978-0-7322-9255-3), with this book as volume 3, which AustLit confirms. The author's encyclopedic entry gives 978-0-7322-9256-0, which sits in the number block directly after book 2's and is taken here to be another format of that book rather than this one's.
- From the series record (Children of the Black Sun): The complete Children of the Black Sun trilogy.
