Synopsis

Out of Oz, the concluding volume of the Wicked Years, finds Oz in deep political turmoil, with Glinda the Good Witch placed under house arrest and Brrr the Cowardly Lion on the run as the Emerald City moves toward open war against Munchkinland. Into this crisis arrives Dorothy, newly returned from Kansas, whose reappearance forces long-standing figures from earlier in the series to confront unfinished business from their pasts. As alliances shift and the war threatens to consume what remains of the fractured land Elphaba once fought against, the novel draws together threads from the previous three books toward a final reckoning for the series' surviving major characters.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Wicked Years): Complete four-novel quartet (1995-2011) reframing L. Frank Baum's Oz from the witches' side, beginning with Elphaba's life story. Wicked is the basis for the hit Broadway musical and 2024/2025 film adaptations. A separate, unrelated work from this project's already-admitted L. Frank Baum Oz universe (a deliberate retelling of it, not the same underlying continuity).
