Synopsis

Poppy the deer mouse urges her family to move next to a field of corn big enough to feed them all forever, but Mr. Ocax, a terrifying great horned owl who rules over Dimwood Forest from an old charred oak, has other ideas. When the owl kills her fiancé Ragweed for breaking his rules, Poppy, who has been warned all her life of Mr. Ocax's evil ways, dares to stand up to the tyrant, setting out through the forest where she meets the cantankerous porcupine Ereth and learns the truth about the owl who calls himself king.
