Synopsis
Serving as a prequel to Elatsoe, published in 2024 and set in the early 1970s, Sheine Lende is the first installment of its series chronologically. It follows Shane, who will grow up to become Elatsoe's grandmother, and her mother Lorenza as they use their inherited magical abilities to track down missing people, working cases that draw on abilities passed down through their family much like Ellie's own gift in the later book. Their work together as investigators is disrupted when Lorenza herself vanishes without explanation, forcing Shane to shift from her mother's assistant into the one leading the search. The disappearance sets Shane on a personal investigation that tests the very skills she and Lorenza had used to help other families find their missing loved ones.

Sheine Lende (2024) is a direct prequel to Elatsoe (2020), set two generations earlier around the title character's grandmother; registered by internal chronology rather than publication order.
