Synopsis
Several years after the events of Foundryside, Sancia Grado has helped establish Foundryside, a merchant house that aims to make advanced scriving accessible beyond the handful of old families who have always controlled it. Working alongside her allies Orso, Gregor, and Berenice, she leads this effort to break the monopoly the established houses of Tevanne hold over magical technology, provoking fierce resistance from the powers she threatens. The situation grows more dangerous when Crasedes Magnus, an ancient hierophant whose command of scriving far exceeds anything practiced in the present day, mysteriously returns. Unlike modern scrivers who rely on inscribed sigils, Crasedes can reshape reality directly, and his reappearance sends Sancia and her allies racing to understand the deeper principles behind scriving before his growing power overwhelms the city.

Notes
- From the series record (The Founders Trilogy): A completed trilogy, confirmed a 3rd, wholly unrelated universe from Robert Jackson Bennett, already in this canon twice over (Shadow of the Leviathan; The Divine Cities) -- no shared setting, characters, or continuity with either. A magic-as-programmable-code ('scriving') heist-fantasy setting. The trilogy itself was a 2023 Hugo Award for Best Series nominee; Foundryside individually was a 2019 Dragon Award finalist (Fantasy Novel, including paranormal), a 2019 British Fantasy Award (Robert Holdstock Award) finalist, and placed 4th in the 2019 Locus Award reader poll for Fantasy Novel.
