Synopsis
The Armies of Daylight concludes the Darwath trilogy after the Dark Ones' assault has left much of the world devastated, with cities destroyed and the ranks of Darwath's wizards decimated. Rudy Solis and Gil Patterson, the two Californians drawn into this world at the trilogy's start, have by now become seasoned fighters in their adopted home, standing alongside the wizard Ingold as the survivors prepare to move from defense to open offense against the Dark. Ingold has developed a new form of protective magic, born from the group's earlier quest for the Walls of Air, that may finally let his people approach and strike at the source of the Dark's power rather than simply enduring its attacks.
Where it sits
- Universe: Darwath
- Series: Darwath core; position 3 of 3 in the series' recorded order
- Author: Barbara Hambly
Notes
- From the series record (Darwath): The original, complete, self-contained Darwath trilogy. Hambly later added 2 further novels (Icefalcon's Quest 1995, Mother of Winter 1996) plus several 2015-2018 novelettes set in the same world -- deliberately not researched or registered, out of scope for now.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
- Publication order, within the series Darwath: position 3 of 3: previous The Walls of Air (1983)
- Internal chronology, within Darwath: position 3 of 8: previous The Walls of Air (1983) · next Mother of Winter (1996)
