Synopsis
"The Childhood and Youth of the Gray Mouser" is a short story about the Gray Mouser's early life, written by Harry Otto Fischer -- co-creator of the character with Fritz Leiber -- and published in The Dragon magazine in 1978. It is one of the rare pieces of the saga actually written by Fischer himself, who otherwise contributed little text to the series he helped originate.
