An elderly Philosopher lives in the Irish countryside with his wife and two children. When the Greek god Pan lures away Caitilin Ni Murrachu, a farmer's daughter, the Philosopher sets out to rescue her. His wife whisks him off, and on his travels he meets Angus Og. Meanwhile the leprechauns, who have lost their crock of gold, report two buried bodies beneath the Philosopher's house to the police, and the Philosopher is jailed.
