Synopsis

Amfortas, the Fisher King, rules the holy castle of Montsalvasche and is bored with his life. When he hurries to help a woman in distress, he walks into a trap set by his enemy, the sorcerer Klingsor. The woman is Kundry, a servant under a curse for mocking Christ on the cross, and after he rescues her she seduces him. The land then begins to wither. Kundry turns against Klingsor, who sends her back to ancient Judea to live through her moment of mockery again. Later she loses her enchanted beauty and serves the Grail knights as an old woman until Parsifal arrives.
