Synopsis
In Renaissance Italy the city of Labirinto has a great maze at its centre. Pilgrims travel from across the country carrying curses, sins and sorrows, hoping to pass through the heavy wooden gates, but only some are admitted and no one knows why. Among them are Anna Forsetti, a maskmaker whose work has stalled since a failed love affair, and her sixteen-year-old daughter Mirabella. Roberto, her patron, follows to win her heart. Others include a former prostitute fleeing the curse of ageing, a swordsman cursed to love violence, a stuttering actor, and a siren who has lost her voice and home. Their paths cross as they enter the magical maze, which asks them to set aside their masks and face themselves.
