Synopsis
Sai is a young woman from the island nation of Mangkon whose father is a thief, and she has attached herself to Paiyoon Wongyai, a renowned mapmaker, as his assistant. Mangkon prizes family name above all, so Sai hides her background as she joins an expedition on Captain Sangra's ship to chart seas no one has mapped. On board she befriends a stowaway named Bo and helps keep him out of sight. Rian, a friend of the captain, urges Sai to persuade Paiyoon to sail for the Sunderlands, a rumored southern land. Paiyoon has seen how conquerors treat places they claim to discover, while the crew chase a cash prize and whisper of dragons. Sai must decide where her loyalties lie.
