Synopsis
The Shadowed Sun, the concluding novel of the Dreamblood duology, is set roughly a decade after the first book, in a city-state of Gujaareh now occupied by the neighboring nation of Kisua. As if the occupation were not strain enough, a mysterious plague of nightmares begins spreading through the population, worsening tensions in a city already close to open rebellion. The exiled prince Wanahomen works to reclaim Gujaareh with the support of the desert tribes of the Yusir Banbarra, while factions among the city's remaining nobility pursue their own plans for resistance against the occupiers. Amid the unrest, Hanani, a young apprentice in the Hetawa temple training to become a full Sharer healer, is put through an unexpected trial after deaths occur during a healing ceremony, drawing her into the widening political and supernatural crisis threatening the city.

- From the series record (The Dreamblood): Core Canon = both novels of the completed duology (Orbit, 2012). Confirmed a separate, unrelated universe from Jemisin's The Broken Earth and The Inheritance Trilogy, already in this canon -- different world, different magic system, no shared characters; all three records are cross-referenced as being by the same author. 'The Narcomancer' (a Dreamblood-set prequel short story collected in How Long 'til Black Future Month?, 2018) was not researched and is not registered.
