Synopsis
Marzi McCarty is an art school dropout in Santa Cruz who manages a coffee shop at night and draws a comic called The Strange Adventures of Rangergirl by day. The shop's walls carry murals by Garamond Ray, an artist who has vanished. In the storage room is a door that opens onto a strange realm shaped like an Old West, and when Marzi opens it she frees a trapped god who takes the form of the comic's villain, the Outlaw. He traps a college student, Jonathan, behind the door and curses him. Marzi and her friend Lindsey go through to learn the god's history and find a way to save Jonathan, and the story leans on the conventions of Western tales.
