Synopsis
Twelve-year-old Abi lives in London with her father and grandmother until her father falls in love with the mother of two boys, Max and Louis. The two families merge and move into a rambling, ivy-covered house with plenty of room and an unsettling atmosphere. Abi loves reading, and in the new house her books start pulling her into their stories in ways that carry real risk. Louis is visited at night by a cat-like creature that comes in through his bedroom window and grows larger with every visit, while Max begins to notice odd shapes in the shadows. Their busy parents see nothing, so the three stepsiblings must work out where the creature came from and how to send it back.
