Synopsis
Melusine, the fairy of legend who is half woman and half serpent and the ancestress of the house of Lusignan, tells her own story from the twentieth century. As the family's resident fairy she watches unseen over its knights and ladies in the year 1174, when an angel is living in the castle's main tower and the Devil meddles everywhere. Then one night the Knight of the Unicorn arrives, bearing a lance made from a unicorn's horn, and Melusine, able to take other shapes, follows a young knight from demon-haunted France to the Holy Land of the Crusades, where her love for a mortal moves towards a tragic end.
