Synopsis
The West Passage follows Kew, an aimless young apprentice, and Pell, a solemn Guardian in training, two very different members of the Grey Tower, one of five towers that together make up a vast, city-like megastructure known only as the Palace, each tower devoted to its own strange duties and traditions. When a monstrous, plague-like threat begins stirring in the Palace's depths at the same moment its Grey Tower guardian figure mysteriously vanishes, the fragile order that has long governed the crumbling structure starts to unravel. Forced out of their narrow, ritual-bound roles, Kew and Pell set out separately through the Palace's strange, decaying reaches, encountering the eccentric inhabitants of the other towers and half-forgotten truths about the crumbling Palace itself, in hopes of finding a way to stop the coming catastrophe before it consumes what is left of their home.
