Synopsis
In the legendary drowned continent of Atlantis, the swordsman Elak (secretly Prince Zeulas of Cyrena) drinks and brawls in the port city of Poseidonis with his companion Lycon, a habitual drunkard, until a druid named Dalan intervenes to save his life from a stranger's sorcery. Dalan brings grim news: Elak's homeland of Cyrena has been overrun by Viking raiders, and his brother, King Orander, has been captured and imprisoned by the malevolent wizard Elf. Joined by Velia, a young noblewoman drawn into the danger, the group sets out to free Orander and break the invaders' hold on the kingdom. Their journey carries them through hostile lands and strange, shadow-haunted dimensions ruled by uncanny beings, building toward a confrontation with Elf's magic that will decide Cyrena's fate.

Notes
- From the series record (Elak of Atlantis): All four stories were first published in Weird Tales (May-June 1938 through January 1941), each a self-contained novelette-length adventure; registered here as Core Canon under the same collection-as-Core exception this project applies to other pulp-era short-fiction cycles: the primary reading unit for this universe is the short fiction itself, later gathered into book form, not a novel.
