Synopsis
Blue Montgomery believes he is cursed to lose at everything: games, contests and fights. After breaking his arm, he is sent to spend the summer with his grandmother Eve in Murky Branch, Georgia, where his odd family members each carry their own strange fate, some lucky and some not. Tumble Wilson, an eleven-year-old who is determined to become a hero, meets him there and decides to help him break the curse. The two set out into the Okefenokee Swamp to search for a legendary golden alligator said to change the lives of those who find it. Along the way they face swamp dangers and family secrets, and wonder when to keep trying and when to stop.
