Synopsis
Gin Blanco is a retired assassin once known as the Spider, the most feared killer in the South, and she now runs a popular barbecue restaurant, the Pork Pit, in the city of Ashland. Her quiet life ends when gunmen open fire on the restaurant. The shots are aimed at Violet Fox, whom Gin has agreed to help alongside Violet's grandfather in their fight against an unscrupulous coal-mining tycoon. Gin is a Stone elemental with some Ice magic, and the trouble pulls her back toward her old trade. Complicating matters is Detective Donovan Caine, the only honest cop in Ashland, who is drawn to her even as he struggles with that attraction. The story is set in a world of giants, dwarves and elementals.
