Bernd Perplies was born on 28 February 1977 in Wiesbaden, Germany. He studied film studies, German studies, book studies and psychology in Mainz, and from 2004 to 2009 worked as an editor for filmportal.de at the Deutsches Filminstitut in Frankfurt am Main. He has also worked as an editor for the magazine Space View and as a translator for German publishers. His debut novel, Tarean - Sohn des Fluchbringers, appeared in 2008, and since then he has written several fantasy trilogies and series, including Magierdämmerung, Carya, Imperium der Drachen and Wolkenmeer, as well as Perry Rhodan NEO novels. In 2016 he co-wrote the Star Trek: Prometheus trilogy with Christian Humberg. He is a member of the Phantastik-Autoren-Netzwerk and lives near Stuttgart with his family.
