Carol Seeger "Siggy" Kendall (1917-2012) was an American writer of children's books, born in Bucyrus, Ohio, and a graduate of Ohio University. She was married to Paul Murray Kendall, an English professor, historian and biographer, who died in 1973. Her first books, published in the 1940s, were aimed at adults. Her travels inspired her folk tale writing, and she translated folk tales from other countries into English for children, including Sweet and Sour: Tales from China (1978) and Haunting Tales from Japan (1985). She is best known for children's fantasy: the Minnipins books The Gammage Cup (1959) and The Whisper of Glocken (1965), and the standalone The Firelings (1981). She died in Lawrence, Kansas, survived by two daughters and three grandchildren.
