Elizabeth Lim grew up in Northern California and Tokyo, Japan, and now lives in New York City with her husband and daughters. She holds degrees from Harvard College and The Juilliard School. She began writing fan fiction around age ten, but after a teacher suggested her academic writing had 'too much voice,' she shifted her creative focus elsewhere and became a film and video game composer, eventually earning a doctorate in music composition. She returned to fiction writing while seeking a break from graduate school and completed a novel that launched her literary career. Lim is a bestselling young adult author known for the Six Crimson Cranes duology, the Blood of Stars duology comprising Spin the Dawn and Unravel the Dusk, and the standalone novel Her Radiant Curse. She also wrote A Forgery of Fate and four books in Disney's Twisted Tales line. Her novels have reached number one on the New York Times, Sunday Times, USA TODAY, and Indie bestseller lists and have been translated into more than twenty languages. Her adult fiction debut, Fishbone Cinderella, is forthcoming in 2026.
