Synopsis
This sequel to Six Crimson Cranes finds Shiori bound by a deathbed promise to return a magical dragon's pearl to its rightful owner in the kingdom of dragons. The pearl carries a volatile, sometimes malevolent power, aiding her one moment and working against her the next, and her journey to deliver it draws her into political intrigue between humans and dragons as well as the attention of thieves who covet the pearl for themselves. Shiori must keep her composure and hide her own dangerous magic even as the pearl's influence threatens to unravel both her family ties and the hard-won relationship with the man she loves, forcing her to weigh how much she is willing to risk to keep her promise.
