Erin M. Evans is an American author and former editor for Wizards of the Coast, born in New York and educated in anthropology at Washington University in St. Louis. She became one of the most acclaimed contemporary voices in Forgotten Realms fiction, beginning with The God Catcher (2010) before launching the Brimstone Angels series (2011-2014), which follows the tiefling warlock Farideh across several novels and helped redefine how the Forgotten Realms line portrayed morally complex, non-human protagonists. She also contributed The Adversary (2013) to the multi-author Sundering campaign that reshaped the setting's continuity. In 2012 she received a SCRIBE Award, presented by the International Association of Media Tie-in Writers, for best original novel in the speculative fiction category, recognizing her work's blend of character-driven drama and game-based worldbuilding. Evans later moved beyond tie-in fiction into original epic fantasy with the Books of the Usurper series, beginning with Empire of Exiles (2022), and continued writing licensed fiction with RuneScape: The Gift of Guthix. Across her career she has been known for meticulous continuity work, emotionally grounded characters, and a willingness to explore darker corners of shared-world settings, making her one of the defining Forgotten Realms novelists of the post-2010 era, alongside her editorial contributions to the wider Dungeons & Dragons fiction line.
