Gigi McCaffrey is an author connected to the Dragonriders of Pern franchise created by her mother, Anne McCaffrey, and continued by her brother, Todd McCaffrey. According to her publisher, Gigi worked directly with her mother on three short stories before Anne McCaffrey's death, and she later contributed an original essay to Dragonwriter: A Tribute to Anne McCaffrey and Pern, an anthology edited by her brother Todd. Her own short fiction has appeared in additional anthologies, including Great Writers & Kids Write Spooky Stories and Mothers & Daughters, reflecting a writing career built initially around shorter, collaborative, and tribute-oriented projects rather than full-length novels. Gigi McCaffrey lives in Devil's Glen, in County Wicklow, Ireland, the same area where her mother settled after emigrating from the United States in 1970 and where the elder McCaffrey wrote much of the celebrated Pern series. She is married and has one son, and her household includes a dog named Sidney, described by her publisher as "infamous." Though her independent bibliography remains modest compared to her mother's and brother's extensive output, Gigi McCaffrey continues the family's literary connection to the Pern universe through short fiction and tribute writing.
