Jess Lebow is an American editor and fantasy writer who spent significant time as an in-house contributor to Wizards of the Coast's fiction lines. He worked as an editor for the company's Book Publishing division from 1998 to 2002, where he scheduled, managed, and budgeted two full-scale book lines, giving him direct insight into the business side of shared-world tie-in publishing alongside his own writing. His Magic: The Gathering fiction career began with "Forgotten Lore: Jhoira de Vivre," published in The Duelist magazine in 1999, and continued with solo stories including "Hero of the People" (2001), "Delraich" (2003), and "The Darksteel Eye" (2003), several written in collaboration with Scott McGough and Daneen McDermott. He also edited two major Magic: The Gathering fiction anthologies, The Colors of Magic (1999) and The Myths of Magic (2000), helping shape the format's early short-fiction era. Beyond Magic, Lebow wrote Dungeons & Dragons fiction, contributing to the shared T. H. Lain pseudonym used for a line of early-2000s D&D paperback novels, and authored the Forgotten Realms novel Master of Chains. His last documented Magic contribution was the story "Mark of the Raven" in the Shadowmoor anthology (2008), after which he transitioned away from active involvement in the Magic: The Gathering fiction community.
