Lisa Stringfellow writes middle-grade fantasy. Her debut novel, A Comb of Wishes, was published in February 2022 and took her eight years to write; it is set on a fictional Caribbean island and is steeped in Caribbean folklore. Her second novel, Kingdom of Dust, followed in August 2024, a reimagined princess-in-a-tower story with a West African influence drawn from Igbo mythology and Nigerian culture. She has said she writes for her twelve-year-old self and that her work often draws on her West Indian and Black southern heritage. She teaches English at The Winsor School in Boston, where she is also the Lower School community and inclusion coordinator, and describes herself as a lifelong lover of fairy tales. She lives in Boston with her children and two cats.
