Roseanne A. Brown is an author of fantasy, science fiction, and young adult fiction born August 26, 1995, in Kumasi, Ghana; she immigrated to the United States at age three. Before turning to fiction, she worked as a journalist from 2019 onward, contributing pieces to outlets including Voice of America. Brown's debut novel, A Song of Wraiths and Ruin (2020), draws on Ghanaian heritage and West African folklore to tell a story of rival protagonists caught between duty and desire, and became a New York Times bestseller as well as a Kirkus Reviews best book of 2020. She followed it with the sequel A Psalm of Storms and Silence (2021), completing the duology. She also wrote Serwa Boateng's Guide to Vampire Hunting (2022), a middle-grade series rooted in Akan mythology, and co-wrote the Marvel graphic novel Shuri and T'Challa: Into the Heartlands (2022). Brown's work is notable for centering West African-inspired settings and mythology within mainstream young adult fantasy, and she continues to write across genres blending folklore, journalism-honed prose, and contemporary themes of identity and belonging.
