Synopsis
Inspired by West and North African folktales, A Song of Wraiths and Ruin, published in 2020, opens in the kingdom of Ziran and follows Malik, a refugee whose younger sister is abducted by a mysterious, demonic figure who agrees to release her only if Malik murders the kingdom's crown princess during a week of festival celebrations. Karina, that princess, is meanwhile mourning her mother's recent death and secretly seeking the heart of a king in order to perform a forbidden resurrection spell she believes can bring her mother back. When the two paths cross amid the festival's public competitions, Malik and Karina are drawn into an uneasy proximity neither fully understands, each hiding a desperate agenda from the other as the week's events push toward crisis.
