Synopsis
The worst of the troubles may be over, but that does not mean the danger has gone. After a long cycle the beacons could fail again and the Sphere of Fate could sweep everything away, and preventing that will take someone acting now. For the moment the characters have a quieter stretch. They visit an ancestral home, look into an old mystery, take part in a ritual and think about marriage. Armies spend the winter and prepare for coming campaigns, while political and romantic rivalries sharpen at the court in Old Pridd. The volume closes with spring approaching and the question of what it will bring.
